Dear Numbas Users,

We are using the numbas lockdown browser to give our students access to this scientific calculutor https://www.desmos.com/scientific, but they are also gettin access to desmos graph which we do not want.

Our IT can block these in chrome, but cannot see how to do a similar block in the lockdown-browser. Is this possible?

Regards,
Joshua Capel

Hi Joshua,
The Numbas lockdown browser really just restricts the environment Numbas is in. It doesn't stop the user from opening any other apps, so they could just open any site they like in their normal browser.
If you want to completely limit their system, use Safe Exam Browser. You can list allowed sites and apps in addition to the Numbas exam.

Hi Christian,

Thank you for the suggestion, I took a look and this software isn't compatible with linux (the basis of our chosen operating system).

I'll advise my colleagues that this cannot be achieved in the numbas-lockdown browser. I think, for now, we will need to stick to chrome for this part of the set up.

Regards,
Joshua
