how to set email alert when Nessus scan is started and completed?

Hi Friends,

I want set email alert to my email ID when Nessus scan is started and completed.

can you please let me know which plugin or event ID to refer or do you have any more information.

Please follow the below steps to create email notification for Nessus scans.

Go to - Scan -->> Email notification (Configure SMTP; accordingly to your email service)

Thanks for information and help.

I am scanning few application servers through Nessus scan. but due to Nessus scan is running, application server's CPU utilization goes to 100%

so I am stopping application server's few services before Nessus scan and restarting after scan completion. 

I am doing this using powershell. but my script does not get Nessus scan completion information as Nessus scan is getting timed out.

Is their easiest way though that I can check Nessus scan status. like when it is started and when it is stopped. so that I can schedule powershell job to restart my application server services. or how to

You can check the details/status of the scan using GET /scans/{scan_id} 

Detailed API info you can find at your nessus server :  https://localhost:8834/nessus6-api.html#/resources/scans/details

There are a few python clients for Nessus REST API one of them is at https://github.com/QKaiser/pynessus
