Office 365 Basic Authentication - Internal IIS SMTP Server

Hi All,

We have an Internal SMTP Relay Server for Office 365. Also I have been using "Basic Authentication" and "TLS encryption" inside Outbound Security.

After October 1, 2022 , how can we continue with basic authentication ? Because , We have internal application servers and appliances that send emails to users.

SMTP Auth isn’t being sunsetted:

 

SMTP AUTH will still be available when Basic authentication is permanently disabled on October 1, 2022. The reason SMTP will still be available is that many multi-function devices such as printers and scanners can't be updated to use modern authentication. However, we strongly encourage customers to move away from using Basic authentication with SMTP AUTH when possible.

Good info.

Is there any guidance for Basic Auth for Exchange 2016 on-prem? I can’t seem to find much, other than MSFT appears to have addressed this for 2019, but not 2016…

Are you sure you mean basic auth and not legacy auth?
