Hi y’all
Looks like something recently broke the “User\User Group” item level targeting for new GPO’s.
Can anyone confirm, or know of any Microsoft tickets open on this?
Thanks,
Jim

Hey Jim,

Also ran into this the day before yesterday, thought it was me being stupid, will give this another try tomorrow to see if I can confirm.

Multiple issues with this months patches are talked about here including gpo pref user targeting>

If Server 2019 Uninstalling KB5041578 seems to help. Or KB5041160 if 2022.  Seems to be limited to the GUI so powershell still works with
set-GPPermissions ..... TargetType User

Thanks all. Was loosing my marbles trying to satisfy a change for a department. Appreciate the links. Found one that said you can use powershell to modify the targeting but have trust issues with object level manipulations outside of the gui. It’s almost like AD GP doesn’t like to be tampered with from behind the scenes. At least that’s been my experience.
