Hello All,

Who do you think we will buy in the close season?

My thoughts and preferences as follows:

  1. New left or right sided Defender, depends where Boly plays. Need to move Saiss from the first team as he gives away too many fouls and distribution is not up to scratch. Keep him as back up though, he is a tryer. Boly needs to improve his distribution as well, shocking at times.
  2. New central midfielder, need to have a replacement for Moutinho coming in. Ideally one who has an eye for goal. Can see Moutinho playing less next season and maybe even coming on later in the game.
  3. Jimenez II – if he gets injured we are screwed! Hasn’t played well since the restart and that is why we have lost those 3 x games. When he is on form, contributing to our play and firing we win the vast majority of the time.

Don’t think we will sell anyone.

Cheers

Paul.

I think I do like the new kit - at least I prefer it over this year's one. The pattern draws the eyes away from the fugly sponsor logo... Think I'll wait until the free international shipping offers (usually Black Friday) to order it.

R.E. signings, the rumours are that Raul and Adama might go... That would leave a massive hole - but any hole can be filled with the right signings. The biggest risk is Nuno leaving - if that happens we are fucked! Luckily it seems that the teams above us and around us are generally settled on their managers - so hopefully no one will go after him...

I agree that we need to replace Saiss - but I would also argue that Jonny could do with some cover. He runs hot and cold and doesn't have the size in the box or pace in attack... One of my theories on why Jota hasn't been scoring much is because he doesn't get the support behind him (and the crosses) that Raul gets from Traore and Doherty (or Traore gets from Doherty). Most of the magic that Jota has created - along with Neto and Podence - have come from their own jinking runs, not from great balls in from the line... Just a theory! But how often does Raul score from a cross from the left???

Also agree that Moutinho needs support. And that we need an out and out striker. Raul has been great, but his conversion rate is shit... We need someone who converts more of the chances. And we need Neves to be more reliable - more like an Oxlade Chamberlain, Andy Robertson, Alexander-Arnold or Jordan Henderson. Their ability to put the ball on a string for the Liverpool attack was the difference for Liverpool this season. Moutinho did that well a few seasons back - we need that skill back...

So in summary, I believe we need better defence and attack on the left and better conversion up front. And younger/more accurate legs in the midfield.

All funded by selling Traore for 150mn Euro...

Tim

I just love the fact there's a conversation going on around Saiss being a 'back up player', Boly's distribution needing work, Mouthino potentially being used sparingly and 'another' Jimenez needed. And this coming on the back of finishing 7th in the Prem.

Good times indeed

Yes I expect those two to go and they are probably at peak value now so we should take it, if we're being ruthless.

I'm relaxed about Nuno. Any other club he goes to now will be full on, as they will be amongst the top few teams of any league in Europe. He will have to work with the players that are there and get results right away. It was a wonderful opportunity to come to Wolves, set his own system, get the players for it, have the ability to get players that were above anyone else in the Chump and take time to bed everything down before hitting top opposition teams. He must know that.

Big money for Adama and Raul, plus more money in from Fosun, if spent wisely could make us a top 4 team in a couple of years. I don't think we were ready for CL football just yet

Hello Tim,

Thanks for your thoughts.

Maybe you are right about the Jonny / Jota combination but think they tend to come back inside more often and switch play back to the right side. Agree, more crosses should come in from the left. Think if they did then Jimenez would score more. When Traore goes down the right, putting a cross in is his goal the majority of the time.

I still honestly think we will not sell any Player especially if we go a little further in the Europa League. The Team spirit is the best I have seen in decades and they all look like they enjoy playing together. The Team is also improving so why move and miss out on some success. Also, can’t see anyone paying the money we are supposedly asking for both Traore and Jimenez.

The new kit is growing on me, my Son loves it!! As do his mates, they all think we have some “cool” strips and fashionable clothes.

We concur on “I believe we need better defence and attack on the left and better conversion up front. And younger/more accurate legs in the midfield.”

When’s the next do? Another “Staying Up Party”!! the days of the End Of Season Wake are long gone. Be good to chat Wolves over some beers!

Cheers

Paul.

Wonder if Chelsea actually wanted to win FA cup.
????
Europe next season for Lucky Arsenal in a nothing season.

This FA cup result Robbs Wolves of a Europa season next year.We had it all in hand and threw it.
Now to qualify,  we have to win this season's Europa cup.

Rome or Seville in the next round if we get through. We can really go for this now that next season has fewer games.

Good run at the FA Cup this season too.

Sorry Steve,

Didn’t watch the Final.

Talking with my brother last night and he said the Ref had a shocker and Chelsea were hard done by.

Think Thursday is going to be a cracker of a game, 3 – 2 to the good guys with Podence getting the winner!!
