It depends entirely on you, specifically how good you are at C++, how familiar you are with network protocols (ISO/OSI 7 layer protocol stack). In addition, you have become familiar with Tcl/Tk,
and interfacing with the C++ code. Also, compiling/installing NS2 on a standard Linux machine is tricky, because of the Tcl/Tk libraries which also need to be compiled and installed at the same time. If it was just C++ on Linux, it would be very easy. But if you are patient, it should work out fine.

I am facing problem in simulating vanet CBRP routing protocol in ns2. Can anyone please help me know the procedure or proper simulation steps?
voila:
num_nodes is set 40
warning: Please use -channel as shown in tcl/ex/wireless-mitf.tcl
can't read "ns": no such variable
    while executing
"$ns node"
    ("for" body line 2)
    invoked from within
"for {set i 0} {$i < $val(nn)} {incr i} {
    [$ns node] set X [expr {10+round(rand()*40)}]
}"
    (file "40CBRP-802_11p-vanet.tcl" line 63)

@dardouri...@gmail.com

Could be there's an error in an early vesion of `40CBRP-802_11p-vanet.tcl´.
Anyway, the word ns in line 63 must be ns_
