Hiya,

I've emailed out some details of meetups in the NW but I know some emails get blocked so....

Thursday 31st March as part of the Google Garage being at Central Library there will be a volunteer training session 4-5.30 followed by a meetup 6-8. It's also a good opportunity to see where the Manchester Central Library Code Club runs and to check out the Google Garage on the 2nd Floor too. I'll bring some micro:bits again so if anyone wants to bring their laptops they can have a go, we'll also have a big screen for anyone who wants to show & tell anything. Better still we'll be in the Chief Librarian's Office which has a bookcase door (!). Word of caution though, St Peter's Square tram stop isn't open so the easiest alternative is Piccadilly Gardens then walk back along Mosley Street.

Thursday 21st April 3.45 - 5.45 at The Mosslands School in Wallasey we'll have our second meetup there. Again we'll have a screen and some micro:bits and there are some fixed computers there too so if anyone wants to play or do a show & tell thats more than welcome :)

There will definitely be meetups in Tameside & Wigan in the next few months plus it's likely there will be one as part of the International Business Festival in Liverpool during June. Hopefully see you all somewhere along the way :) Cheers, Liz

Thanks Liz,

I don't think I've had an email from you so mine must have been one that bounced... don't know why because I've received messages from you before... stupid email systems: the more scams and spams there are the harder it gets to identify real messages. ;(

Anyway.. see you next week! :)

Kind regards,
Geoff

Hi Geoff, apparently theres an issue with intercom this time so more emails bounced than usual (lots more - 38% actually!) so it's probably just a one off for you.

See you next week :) Liz

Closest parking is the Arndale I think... unless we can find an on street spot.  Does anyone know what the on street parking situation is: I looked with Google Maps and there seem to be lots of meter bays around, but do they continue to want feeding at 7pm, and is there much chance of getting a spot? :)

You pay on the street (inside the inner ring road) up until 8pm. No expert but I think it's cheaper (free) outside. There's a car park at the end of Tib Street.

I'll probably get the tram in though

Hi Geoff, just checked and you pay on the street between 8am - 8pm. Charges before 8pm are £2.90 for 1hr, £4.30 for 1hr30m and £5.80 for 2hrs. There were some spaces free on Edge Street tonight (one pretty much at the door), some of the bays are loading only but others just normal meter spots. As Steve says the Tib Street parking is probably the nearest, just at the end of the road, it's 24hours but I couldn't see prices. Hope that helps. Cheers, Liz

I'm going to bring some things to play with ... technically I'm "dropping them off at madlab" but we might as well check they work :) So we'll have some littlebits, Raspberry Pi's with breadboards/LEDs etc and a couple of laptops. I've made a pair of bat googles too following Claire ace kids workshops .... someone will no doubt enjoy tweaking my really basic code so that less injuries occur when wearing them! Apart from that I though tea/coffee and biscuits, so if anyone has favourites shout out now!

Don't forget that the trams are still not going through the centre yet... end of the month they're supposed to be back last time I saw an update.  I was considering the trams because Shudehill stop isn't that far away, but then I remembered about the lack of running through the centre. [sigh]

Thanks Liz, I'm sure that we'll get parked appropriately... and the 'dropping things off that need to be played with' sounds great fun. Bat googles? Or is that bat goggles, eh? :)

Do we need our own lappies this time then?

Biscuits.... favourite: custard creams.... well you did ask. <(")

Haha bat goggles....it was a habit typo!

I've got some laptops we can use , we can play, chat and eat custard creams at the same time.

Forgot about the trams, it looks like there's replacement buses from Deansgate Castlefield to Pic or the free Metroshuttle from Deansgate Castlefield to Shude Hill.
