Those of us that know, know. But it is a bit difficult to promote to potential members as a variable discount - I've seen zero discount on some items up to "very significant" on items that are already priced competitively.

And I've spoken with members who forget about the discount!

I've compared some prices with a friend who has a business account, both at the introductory "new business account" discount level as well as the "now you are a bigger business" upgraded level. Our discount is often better than the "new business account" level, while not quite as good as the "upgraded bigger business account" level.

I think if you are doing significant work like building or heavily modifying a boat the NWMA discount would pay for your membership dues in a few months.

But if you own and actively use your own boat I'm convinced the NWMA membership dues pay for themselves in Fisheries discounts every year and then some. Of course you can often find cheaper retail prices online if you shop around - but I've also seen Fisheries have the best price even before our discount for items they stock in store and you can pick up same day.

Here are a few examples of "owner stuff":

Fisheries Retail     NWMA Discount  Online cheapest
Fasco Ultimate SS Screw Kit                                        $136                      $123                      $150
Antal Roller Cleat  4400lbs                                          $333                     $308                      $326
Racor 120R-RAC gasoline filter                                    $128                      $115                       $119

Hi all,

I just joined NWMA via the website and I'm trying to figure out how to use the Fisheries discount. I called Fisheries and they said that I can't "link" my personal account to the club discount.

Can anyone provide some guidance?

Thanks,
Eric

Hi Eric.  Welcome.  We all look forward to meeting you and your boat.  Hopefully at the Sept meeting, zoom or in person.

Usually the club brass sends out a how to email on the discount at the beginning of our fiscal year and dues due date to paid up members in ~Oct.  I couldn't find it on my email which means I did apply for it and deleted the email.  Someone will be along to send it to you. We must apply for it every year before you intend to used it, or you will not get it.  It can't be done at the store. .  Its a bit awkward but that is the way Fisheries does it.  BTW, You will get a club burgee, hopefully at the Sept meeting.    Looking forward to meeting you.

Eric - I'm supposed to send that email as Membership Manager - after verifying they paid their membership dues.

I'm out cruising so it is difficult but I believe I can get it handled.

That was supposed to just go to Eric but..phone-based email sorry.

At any rate I've sent Eric Fitzsimon his welcome email, apologies for the delay!

I'm not sure I will be able to deliver burgees at the Sept meeting but we have quite a few new members who need them!

You are welcome.

I always wonder if I am getting the discount because it's supposed to pop up immediately on the online store with the discounted price when you are signed in.  I suppose you could check it against an anonymous peek at their website listing.

I spent a bit of time looking at it. If you’re on a regular web browser it shows the “street” price adjacent to your price. It looks like it’s going save me a great deal of money on a new furler (roughly $400)!

That is fantastic, about 8 or 9 annual club dues!
