Hellos, multihullers:
I will be spending a night at Blake Island (sleeping on my boat) as part of the Salish 100.  I am assuming that the docks and mooring balls will be full, so am guessing I'll be anchoring for the night.  Seems like the drop off is pretty steep all around the island, except on the north side where there are mud flats. Any tips? My boat is a very light Windrider 17 trimaran, I have a beefy Rocna anchor, and 250' of rode.  I also have about 100' of polypropylene shore tie.  The tide is predicted to drop 10' overnight.
If I can't get into the marina or grab a ball, my first instinct would be to do a shore tie fairly close in on the west side.  It will be the night of July 20.  Another option would be to anchor in Yukon Harbor near Colby when the evening festivities are over.
Suggestions welcome!
Andy

I've anchored Dulcinea (24' catamaran) off the west side of the island, towards the north end of the island. Yes, the bottom drops off fairly steeply so it's tricky to get the anchor in the right depth, especially if you are single-handed.  But I managed it (on about the third try) so it should be possible with your boat as you described it.

What works even better is to get Joe and Sue to anchor Presto there, and then tie up to them.  :-)

While we enjoy Andy's company and would be delighted to have Crazy Janey raft up at Blake Island, Presto will expects to be just a bit south of Ketchikan on July 20.

Anchoring off of the west side of Blake Is shouldn't be a problem. The current will push you north and south along the shore line, so being close to shore should work for a boat with Crazy Janey's draft.

Hi Andy, I would go for the marina, because if you can't get a slip,
there is a nice sandy beach in the corner. You see kayaks and dinghies
there; I can't imagine they would have a problem with a Windrider
overnight.

+1 on beaching. The NW corner has sights designated for human power craft.

If you beach, watch out for those pesky raccoons. If you leave any hatches unsecured they will get in and wreak havoc.

andy,
you can raft up with me.
i will have my dragonfly as one of the safety boats on the salish 100.
i will be anchoring everynight - i dont want to pay any slip fees while traveling from anacortes - olympia- back to anacortes.
take care,

Andy,

Definitely take him up on this! My girls love his oven, cockpit fridge, and acres of horizontal real estate 😆. Definitely their fave anchor buddy!

Once again, the NWMA comes through in SPADES!  (Reference to a card game I never mastered.) Great insights, everyone!
Darren, perhaps we should engage in the ancient nautical custom of trading phone numbers!
Cheers,,

Darren, how many safety boats are expected, I don’t see any listings for them on the website.

hey scott,
i dont know the total, but just sent an email to jesse at the NWM in port townsend.
i can confirm at least 2 for sure, but was messaged by someone on the facebook page - which i do not monitor - that are are a lot of support boats this year.
i do not know what a lot means, but i can assume its more than 2.
when i did the salish 100 in my 19 ft. trimaran 2 years ago, there were 4 support boats.
sorry im not a real help, but im sure jesse will get back to me when he isnt trying to wrap up a great R2AK.

Excited to see multiple people from the NWMA coming to this event. My wife son and I cant to cast off on this adventure on the 17th. We were planning on anchoring on the north west end of blake and sleep on the boat if the weather holds.
