I bought a new-to-me F-24 last July and haven't sailed it yet. I had a launch attempt about a month ago, and Eric was kind enough to show up to help. I had a mishap and ended up bending my gin pole while raising the mast, so I had to bail on the launch that day.

The gin pole is repaired and I'm ready to try again! I'll be at the Shilshole boat ramp tomorrow around 9am to try again. I'm fine raising it solo but more hands are always welcome! Once launched, I'd plan on sailing a bit Sunday and possible keeping it overnight in Shilshole, or I'll just pull the boat back out Sunday evening.

That is great Bob.  We may be hiking in the mountains tomorrow so might not make it.  Hopefully someone else can drop by to give a hand.

Awesome!, I'll be there closer to 7:30am to get the mast raising gear set up. I expect the boat ramp to be busy as well with salmon and crabbing season going strong. It would be best to launch by 9am before the tide gets too low on the ramp. Once launched, my plan is to go for a test sail (of course) and if everything is going well, my wife + twin boys would show up by lunch time so they can try it too. I'm leaning toward keeping the boat in Shilshole for a few days so I don't have to commit to pulling the boat Sunday night and lowering the mast.

Bob and I went for a sail in the light air and the boat moved along nicely.  We sorted all kinds of things as he learned the tricks of these Corsair boats.  We then picked up his wife and two boys for some more sailing but the wind soon died.  Went back in after bobbing around for some minutes.  All things were working fine.  Bill Q. stopped by for some encouragement as well.

Hey, I think I saw you pulling out of the marina as we were coming back in on Dulcinea (small catamaran)!

Duncan, I saw  Dulcena under way during the launch process but I was too far away to hail you.  Too bad the wind didn't come in yesterday.

THANK YOU so much to everyone who helped with my launch, especially Eric, Vince, & Kristin. Great meeting you too, Bill!,  Paul & Joanna were also very helpful and generous with their time helping me learn to raise the mast for the first time a few weeks ago. There are so many peculiarities to trimarans and it's a huge help to get advice early on without learning things the hard way.

My favorite part was Kristin's quote of the day once the boat was launched: "It's so cute!" -- compared to F31s, LOL. It's a managable little boat indeed. I was able to get back to the boat ramp, winch the boat onto the trailer, and lower the mast all on my own. It's getting less intimidating each time.

I mentioned this talking to folks in person, but I'll eventually be able to store the boat mast-up in Anacortes adjacent to a launching crane via the Anacortes Community Boating group: https://www.anacortescommunityboating.org/. I'm on the wait list for a spot. Meanwhile, I'm keeping it in a normal boat storage lot in Anacortes with the mast down. I plan on using the Cap Santa Marina hoist for now, which means I'll need to raise the mast in the water.

Thanks again to everyone in this group!

Happy to help out Bob.  That is the heart of this club, helping others enjoy multihulls.  Don't be a stranger even if you boat is in Anacortes.

Hey Bob,

Excited to hear we’ll have another boat up north. To save money while you wait for your spot, you can still use the P/Q hoist and the electric dolly that is stored in the shed at the top of the dock. It’s only $5 per key swipe or $3 if you’re an AWA member (which you might be since you’re on the wait list).

Reach out to me directly for tips on using that particular hoist.

Ginnie Jo
