I was having a bad day Thursday.  I opened a bad email, from a known name, and my computer was "locked down".  I went to Geek Hampton in Sag Harbor as opposed to the mall, 100 mile round trio.  Took the ferries over, I did get a bit nausea on the South Ferry because I was sent to text to Bev... yup. At Geek Hampton, the guy fixed the trouble and didn't charge me.Thank you. Still, I needed cheering up so I went to feed the birds at Morton's WLR.  Titmouse came at me at all sides as I held out my open handed with seed. Then a heavier weight and stronger feet....White breasted Nuthatch.  Then came the Chickadees.  Put a smile on my face.  But a moodiest of the morning came on again.....

I heard from John Wittenberg about the COMMON CUCKOO being sighted in Riverhead!  OH BOY!!!  I read KJ post on NFBirds.... Tomorrow!  I sent the info to Linda.  She wasn't are she could make it... I got to Roanoke Ave, found the spot, parked the Jeep and began walking.....Many of the people were leaving and they had the bird.  I didn't realize how far I had to walk... almost there I heard a beep and I got out of the way thinking it was a farm vehicle.  It was Linda!  She drove on the dirt roads and I got in.  I smelled a party!  The who's who of the birding world.  I saw many friends and people I recognized. Many people at the spot had seen the bird... I stood with Linda, chatting to folks and when the bird was a no show, Linda drove me to my car and I went home to eat and shower.  I had an event to go to later.  In my party clothes and a change of footwear, I headed back to Riverhead.  Parking closer to the spot I saw two women and we began to chat. I saw RAVEN and PALM WARBLER but no Cuckoo.  Damn.  When two men were walking toward us and joined a lot for a time.  One man who he has a Vesper Sparrow and he wanted to check that out, I strolled with them when an SUV drove up and a woman was signaling us to come.... I ran for the first time in a very long time, they knew where the bird was. I was dropped at my Jeep and followed them to The Woods, a restaurant at the golf course.

Up near the fence where people were standing, using scopes and bins of every kind, a man lowed his scope so I could see the bird, get a bead on it and used my bins.  So much kindness by so many. The behavior was great and kind large. Swooping....

The event I was heading was a documentary called "Salam Shalom."  Fascinating!  Briefly, a Jewish family in Lahore, at the time, India to escape the horror of WWII through the eyes of a girl and the woman who resides in Mattituck.  One thing that came up in the film was a sense of belonging.....

From the anger and sadness yesterday spoke to a lonely moment.  I was helped by Unseen Hands and Kindness today and yesterday. I belong with the Birders, a Faith, a Family and Friends.... We are all loved bathed in Kindness and Unseen Hands. We SHOULD all feel Joy.  Thank you those that helped me see this. Pass it on.
