Hi All,
Great day today patrolling with Laura T, Patrick M, Jonathan B, and Johan E. The gate to Paradise opened at noon and only to admin traffic. The Rangers asked us to join them on their SAR field training where we ran through a full scenario including transporting a litter up the skyline trail and back down with a patient (see pic). Great opportunity to train with them and in a real-life scenario.
They also asked us to pole the skyline trail gully entrance (see map and pics for reference). We planted three sets of poles in X, one on the west side, and two on the east side (46.79568, -121.73568; 46.79625, -121.73542). They also want us to put a “Danger” sign but we couldn’t find it in the tow rope A frame shed. They would like us to do so later and also to maintain these poles. There have been 7 accidents in recent years at this gully leading to 5 fatalities, including one last Spring.
We only used vests that were hanging on the horses, (I counted 11 when I arrived Friday night, the rest are in the closet, total 27+ 1 jacket). I asked people not to mix them so the one in the closet can be techwashed.
Snowpack still pretty thin, particularly in the lower areas including Narada Falls. Two trucks were waiting for us at NH.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks!
Jose
Thank you Tom! We figured that's where they were but we ran out of time...
