Here is Saturday's lead report. Natalia was acting lead on Sunday and will send a separate report. A few important notes from Sunday are below.

Saturday: The road was closed. Nordic Patrol hiked to the viewpoint on Rampart Ridge and conducted transceiver searches in the Longmire campground. Even with only a few inches of snow on the ground, we successfully practiced single-rescuer, multi-rescuer, and multi-burial scenarios. In the evening, the downstairs bathroom at the Nisqually House backed up sewer water into the hallway. We sacrificed a few kitchen and bath towels to contain the flood. We called dispatch (phone # 360 569 6600) and maintenance determined we had a blockage. The issue was fixed Sunday morning, and the downstairs bathroom and hallway were cleaned and disinfected. Everything should be ready for next weekend.

Sunday: Natalia's report will have full details; the most important one is that we lost a radio, likely in the Mazama Bowl. For future weekends, please check that patrollers are using the radio holsters on their vests properly, and that patrollers who carry their radio in a pocket or on a strap have a backup security measure. We learned the hard way that radios can slide out of their clips. I am gathering gps tracks from the patrollers on the team in case we have a chance to continue searching later this season.

tl'dr haiku:
Open road to snow,
Mazama eats radio,
Canyon Y needs work

Sunday: The road was open and we had 3 teams go up. Nordic 1 went to the Mazama bowls where the aforementioned radio was lost; Nordic 2 went to Edith creek and on to the base of Pan and back over via Alta Vista; Nordic 3 reset the poles on Devils Dip, followed by the poles at the water chlorination house. The poles around the pool of water were not reset but the pool is visible. Nordic 3 suggested additional poles to be set at the lower end of the Devils Dip route by Canyon Y as they are spaced out too far for easy viewing.

We did not refuel the vehicles, which were either full or at 3/4 tank.

The septic system was fixed by Sunday am at Nisqually house. Thanks maintenance crew!!!

As Suzanna mentioned, a radio was lost somewhere between Fourth Crossing and the Mazama Bowls. This radio was attached to a clip on a backpack and not in the vest holster, so please double check that all radios are appropriately stored and secured while on patrol.

For next weekend:
Poles from Narada Falls to Reflection Lakes need to be reset
More poles needed at the lower part of Devils Dip
NH needs more kitchen towels to replace those lost to the bathroom flood.
