Express + cookie-session + winston session id logging

Hi, I'm using express + cookie-session + winston - I've got 2 issues: 

There doesn't appear to be a req.session.id in cookie session (ie. it's undefined) ... 

and 

can anyone suggest a technique for automatically augmenting winston logs with a session id (once I have one!) 

Any help would be appreciated! Happy to move to a (better) stack.
