The AppDebug team at HP Software has released a core component of the solution as opensource.
The package is already in use in the Heroku AppDebug addon (Alpha) - https://apdalb.saas.hp.com/AppDebug/html/Home.html

In case folks see the subject and wonder about running node inspector on a PaaS, I got something here:


I've only tested it on the IBM Bluemix PaaS - which is based on Cloud Foundry.  The basic idea should work with any PaaS that supports WebSocket.  YMMV.
