Hello guys,
need a help.
I have raspberry pi and node red running in a monitor. I have created my flow and can see the changes in the dashboard.
But i want to access the dashboard in my phone. The problem is the raspberry pi is connected to a local network and my phone is connected to  a different network.
Any suggestions?

Do you need to go through the internet to get from one to the other?

Do you mean yes you need to go through the internet? If so then the
problem is that you must in some way open your pi up to the internet
which means you need to worry about those with malicious intent
getting into your pi and hence anything else on your local network
including the PC from which you possibly access your bank account. If
you look back through the posts here you will see numerous discussions
of the safe ways to to this.

I do it by running a VPN server on one of my Pis so that I can safely
get a virtual connection into my network. There are other
possibilities which, as I say, have been discussed here regularly.

Hi,

I want to access my node red dashboard in my mobile. The problem is my node red is in the University local network. My phone is in different network. Also i cannot create a vpn in my localhost also. So can someone suggest me any other ways to access my node red dashboard in my mobile without using vpn?

Thank you in advance.

You will need to map the port used for node-red (1880) from the university router network to the machine that provides your node-red service, then you will be able to open nod-red by opening:   University-public-ip:1880/ui.

One steep forward you can look for a free sub-domain like for instance "  http://freedns.afraid.org/subdomain/"  so you can open a name address instead of the IP so like this you don't care if the public IP of the network changes.

If I was head of IT @ a university, I would not allow port forwarding like that, allowing access to the university lan from outside. So I think (if you are a student) , better finish your studies at the university first and then build a system with a vpn access point outside somewhere.

If you happen to actually have full access to the university network, better setup a vpn as well
