So, NLUG ppl,

What are y'all doing with Linux these days?

Anything new and exciting you want to share? What distros are you using? Anyone taken any of the updated certs (LPIC, CompTIA, Red Hat)? Got any pet Linux peeves? Any reports or experiences from the Southeast Linux Fest? Inquiring minds want to know...

For me, I'm wrapping up phase one of my "return to college" experience, and am setting up three Linux servers (one Red Hat, one Debian, and one ??? distro on identical hardware) plus some Cisco gear so I can update a bunch of certs over the summer and into the fall.

Hi Johnny,
great to hear from you. Congrats on getting back to school and we'd love to see you back at meetings again. Ubuntu is still my daily driver as far as distros go. I'm exploring Ansible, Docker, and a little Kubernetes.

Ubuntu for my 83 year old pastor, Kubuntu for his 79 year old wife.  I've still got Ubuntu for OBS and daily browsing.  Been using Fedora for 18 months too, updated to version 36.

Fedora desktop 12GB RAM vs Ubuntu 20 desktop 128GB RAM
For running Mathematica and daily browsing with Firefox (a dozen tabs) and Brave (2 tabs) and several office documents and spreadsheets it seems to me that Fedora requires less restarts.

Most often you get what you pay for.  When it comes to OS's, you're paying to get a headache with Windows.
