I have a local media server at home, and am interested in having a large internal hard drive, rather than an external USB that I have been using. Any issues with modern Linux distros (e.g. Ubuntu 20.04 LTS) accessing internal drives or partitions larger than 2TB?  BIOS of a two year old PC? Other?

It would only be a data drive accessed by Linux. I'm not planning to try booting from it if that makes a difference.

Shouldn't be an issue. I have several older computers (10+ years old) that have no problem accessing large drives. Only issue that sometimes comes up is location of the boot partition but you've already said you're not booting from the drive.
