Must one be a ex-military personnel to apply for the post of a Port Facility Security Officer. It's strange and this is killing the Security industry big time. Chairman please help advise all these companies. Many people are rather switching professions because of this singular requirement

You are right. We all have a lot of work to change the mindset of user companies on asking for ex military personnel.. We will keep on working on this.

Come to think of it sir, most often we do more n better when it comes to commercial and industrial security services.

Its really so disappointing and discouraging...

Dear all,

It is really dis-heartening when all this organization request for ex-military background as a pre-requisite for security employment. Must we all in the industry go through defense academy for that reason? That i see as one of the reason why we are having ethical issues in the security industry today. 

Most of our institutions now run security management courses/training to encourage our up coming security professionals to participate in the protection of life and property, does that mean those that wish to pursue their careers in the security field can no longer get a job again in the name of ''ex-military''?

The truth still remains that conventional security management is different. It is not all about force or weapon but more of ethical, legal, technologies and strategies. Most of the so called ex-military always come and start learning it the legal way from us. I think someone need to give them some professional advice.

Please, what is the faith of this institute in this country of ours? This noble institute supposed to be the highest and apex of the security institute in Nigeria. I wants to know our stand in the National Assembly? Any personnel from Military or Para military supposed to be members of this noble institute before being considered for any posts in any establishments in this country. Are we truly certified and recognized by by law? What Acts of FRN? Pls.

Employers of Labour will continuously be educated on what to ask for. Over the years i have seen a remarkable improvement in job specifications for security positions.l am not saying that we are there yet but we will get there.Our stand at the National Assembly has not changed.
