Greetings,
As you may have heard, the annual NFB picnic will be held on August 30th at my home (my address and contact information are below).
Before the festivities begin, we will hold our monthly meeting, which will begin at 10:00.
Lunch will be available after the meeting at about 11:30 AM. I will be providing non-alcoholic beverages, disposable plates and cutlery, and condiments. there will also be grilled brats, burgers, and buns available.
Any member of our community is most welcome to come and enjoy some fun, friendship, and food! You need not be affiliated with or be a member of the NFB. You only need to bring yourself, a dish to pass, and a lawn chair if you would like. If you choose to bring a particular beverage of your choice (beer, wine, etc) you are most welcome to do so.
For those living in Janesville and taking public transportation, you will want to take the Kellogg Avenue bus and get off at the corner of Oakhill and Kellogg Avenue. The new system does announce the Oakhill and Kellogg stop. Once you exit the bus, Continue north on Oakhill for one block and turn right (east) onto King street. I am the first house after you cross Walnut. The address is 1611 King Street. If it helps, the house is green with red brick facing.
Please be aware that I have three resident cats. They each welcome guests in their own way. Inky will likely hide the entire time and the only sign she ever was there would be the glitter balls and crinkly cat toys that will inevitably find their way into the middle of the living room floor no matter how many times I attempt to clean up that morning. Ellie and Bazinga are very social and enjoy any attention you are willing to bestow upon them. Bazinga is an indoor cat while Ellie may be in and out of the house as opportunities present themselves. She is getting “up there” in years, but still enjoys her role as neighborhood mascot and mooching treats off anyone she can manipulate into thinking she hasn’t been fed since Obama left office. I do have some fairly good allergy spray that I will be applying to the girls and the furniture prior to the picnic. Regardless, I wanted folks to be aware in case we need to move the gathering inside.
I will have some lawn games for those who are so inclined and perhaps a few boardgames out as well if we need to remain in the house due to weather. Generally, though our group tends to enjoy the gift of gab. I don’t have a lot of things available to occupy children, so it might be advisable to bring something to keep any munchkins that may accompany you happy and busy.
It would be helpful if those who plan on attending could let me know prior to the event so we know how much meat and beverages to provide, but it is not strictly necessary as plans often change. You may also reply to the list. If you would like to share the dish you are bringing to pass that would also be helpful. As much as I like pasta salad we probably don’t need four people bringing large bowls!
Please feel free to contact me with any questions you might have.
I hope to see you on August 30th!
Thanks!
Amy
