Hi,
I have some museum quality glass for framing and I have no idea how to remove the lettering that says “this side faces art work”. Anyone know how to remove the lettering? Plexiglass cleaner doesn’t seem to work.

Hi Amy,
Have you tried an alcohol or acetone based solvent? Something like nail polish remover or 70% isopropyl alcohol might work.

Careful with acetone, it can dull plexiglass.
Hexane or kerosene are supposed to work, though

Indeed - I assume this framing glass has special coatings on it. These coatings have special instructions about cleaning. I would google the supplier of the glass, if you know it, or at least google something like - cleaning museum grade framing cover glass. Hopefully you will get proper instructions.

Is there a film over the entire glass that you can peel off? Sometimes I have that and don't notice it.

As I understand it, museum glass has an anti-reflective coating not entirely dissimilar to camera lenses. That said, while I wouldn't take a razor blade to a camera lens, I've seen people lightly use one to remove that label if it's being really stubborn.
