From Paul Lehto, a letter he's submitted to the Seattle Times (which, I'll bet,
won't publish it, but we will see).

Monday I drove my son to a drive-thru HS graduation. Saturday I dropped him off to
his first protest. He almost got gassed. After discussion, 5 in our local family attended
Sunday. As we arrived, an armed white guy drove into the crowd at high speed, hit a
barrier and then shot a black man protecting us. Amazingly, police announced their
"safety concerns" about crowds inching closer, laying flowers down & protest signs
reflecting police lights, but merely escorted by arm the attempted murderer walking
straight up to their lines. Soon, police fired gas on protesters for trifles. Side by side
we compared police reaction to attempted vehicular & gun homicide with the treatment
of protesters.
