Truth or Consequences/ Valencia & El Paso KC's

Hi All -- Now that Roswell is over and we are all looking forward to Alamogordo and Las Cruces, T or C is coming right on up too.  Who all is going to T or C and will be stewarding? 
This is October 13,14,15, and 16.  Jennie Behles was able to get us a good discount at two hotels in the area -- so please if you haven't yet -- you can still get in on the dog show rates by going directly to the hotels themselves and quoting the Enchanted Canine Classic dog shows.  The two main hotels are Elephant Butte Inn and Spa (575-744-5431) and Hot Springs Inn (575-894-6665).  We do need conformation stewards at Tor C so please, please say you'll steward.  Thank you for all you do.  Lorraine

    Yes, it moved to T or C this year to an indoor facility.  The El Paso club has revived and will be having 2 shows also.

I am being truthful here and the answer my following statement will decide on wether or not I can/will Steward the TorC shows.

I spent more money than I made at the last ABQ shows. My hotel room and gas money was about $90.00 more than I made. This does not include meals.

I spent more money than I made to the Roswell shows by $10.00. It would have been $70.00 if I did not share a room with Phyllis. Again this does not include meals.

I do not work. If I did, I would have lost even more money by having to take time off.

I am not willing to lose money to support a contract signed by the NMSA, that did not have members already committed to work. If however the NMSA was willing to give a flat fee for the TorC show that I knew would be enough to cover my gas, room and 1 meal ($85.00) , or was willing to double the current amount that I currently receive (although I am not sure that would even be enough), I would consider Stewarding.

I know this sounds harsh, but I am have already lost money Stewarding for 2 NMSA contract committed shows.

Karen I am so sorry for the costs incurred to steward -- especially if you are not showing and don't have sufficient income.  I know that Susan Coffey is willing to steward at T or C if she can find someone to share a room with.  The NMSA has been an active association since the 1970's but unfortunately people get old, have health problems, or economic problems.  The dog clubs in New Mexico have come to depend on us for provide stewards but we seem to have lost people who just like to steward  rather than steward in order to help finance their show activities.  Maybe it's a generation thing ... or again simply economics.  We are trying to recruit new members all the time -- and seem to run out of application forms but not people who are willing to come to the shows.  I will continue to try to solve this membership issue and commitment to  stewarding.  Hopefully we can recruit some people at Alamogordo and Las Cruces.  Right now I just have three people signed up for T or C.  The amount we pay for stewarding is based on a formula -- so that the size of the entries and the number of man hours stewarding  are the big variables in what is paid.  We ,may have to redesign our payment protocols.  I sure hope we can squeak through T or C at least.  LL

The pay for t or  c will. Mire   than handle hotel and gas for  two - with a good breakfast and lunch - so if you show it is a wonderful deal- im afraid only Albuquerque shows work for those who do not show - unfortunately now that yafl  has all the parks in los Lunas under    Contract. we are lucky to have a place to show at all  - let alone  indoors with  ac, our parking and  grooming reservations indicate  sone nice numbers and big majors so we really beed the help we will have 5 
Confirmation rings  - this caterer has phoenomenal   food and a custom kitchen to cook abd serve it from  - where you can actually watch terriers , toys , etc

I know I waited too long to respond -- Jennie had sent a response saying she could come up with more money -- and now we are willing to pay double but I don't know what the rate will be -- and I know you have to find out what your schedule will really be for Oct 13,14,15,16.  We all lost money when we steward but it doesn't hurt us equally based on personal situations.  If you are going to a show and will be showing a dog(s) anyway it is just a way to add some reimbursement to your already planned expense, but otherwise ....     would appreciate any help we can get.  Lorraine
