Good morning,
I was wondering – if I want to assign an IP to an interface, I often already have the IP itself assigned and put a description in. For instance, someone needs 2 IPs for a new server, but at that time we might not exactly know what the server or interface name is.
Then later, when we do know, I want to assign that IP to the device, using the “Assign an IP” tab after selecting “add” to the device’s interface with the wonderful “Search” button. That’s where my wishlist comes in:
- In the search results, would it be possible to also list the IP’s “Description” field? Just as a dummy-check to make sure I didn’t grab the wrong IP?
- While I’m dreaming, could I possibly in the future search for wildcard-IPs or similar? I may remember that I reserved an IP in the 172.19.123.10-ish (11? 12? 13?) range for that box, but which one was it…
Of course I can (and do) go to the prefix, look for what I reserved, copy the IP, then go to the device/interface/assign and then paste the IP.
Just an idea, “asking for a friend” and all that ;)
