Hello

I am checking if there is a way to create custom fields based on device types like if a device is an Switch
we have custom fields like

Software Version
Hardware Version

and for a device type of server we have CPU,Memory custom fields

At present if I create a custom field under dcim-->device it shows up on all devices even though we do need that field for that type of device. Is there a way to get something like Templating we use in custom links where we can make sure the custom link appear in only defined devices using Jinga2 templates

Netbox -- Version - 2.6.1

Thanks

No, I'm afraid not.  A custom field applies to an object type (e.g. "Device") and is available to all instances of that type.

Thank you for your response

Is there any other work around at the moment or best to leave the field as null for non supporting devices

I think just leave them blank.

The only other thing I can suggest is, when adding new devices, you can create "Custom Scripts" for each kind of device; these let you create web forms that prompt for only the information you want to collect.
