Hi,

I had a doubt regarding what would happen if we use a congestion control algorithm whose module has not been loaded in Linux yet. Does NeST load in that particular module or does it just throw an error?

Regards

Hey Pranav, I haven't tested this before, so I am unsure what will happen. My guess would be that NeST would not throw an error and (silently) use the default cubic algorithm. Could you please modify an example (say examples/prp.py) and run it, and let me know what happens?

So I tried running prp.py with different TCP algorithms and from what I found, it looks like the modules are actually loaded in automatically if it is not present already. I went through the NeST code but could not find anything which explicitly loaded in the modules. My guess would be that netperf loads it in before it obtains the metrics.

Oh right, I remember seeing similar behaviour before. Yes you are right, netperf does automatically load the relevant tcp module. This is possible because NeST is running as a privileged process.
