Hi all!

I've been servicing and getting our Series 1E online

Does anyone have access to the schematics please? Also for the PSU which is humming quite a bit.

Regarding the send and return jacks on the rear of the board, ideally I would like to integrate with our Otari MTR90, sending out and returning on each channel. From the theatre edition schem I've seen it looks as though the return jack will break the input circuit when inserted.

Ideally I'd like a way to be able to use the console without using the tape machine each time which would be half normalled on the patchbay.

I'm also unsure of the buttons on the master section, Tape , Tape 2, Extra, Phono, Mono and how that might relate to tape monitoring.

Many thanks

WRT the buttons, those are the Monitor Input selectors and simply choose which 2-Track source you hear through the monitors. When none are engaged it defaults to the console’s 2-Mix bus. They are NOT global source (IOW “Record/Mix”) switches that you would see in a more advanced desk like an SSL 4K.
I saw your post, with pics, on another forum. What you have there is more like a live-sound desk, with the connectors on the back panel.

Hey Gareth -

sorry - i can’t help with schematics…

regarding the power supply humming - I’m assuming you mean physically humming ? that’s not something easily addressable. the laminates of the transformer are vibrating as current is passing through the windings. My old Series iiic supply does the same thing. do yourself a favor and have a new supply built for the desk. We had Atomic Instrument build us one. ( https://www.atomicinstrument.com/ ). Our desk sounded sooo much better with a new solid power supply. trust me.

the Tape / Tape2 / Extra / etc buttons in the master section will enable separate stereo inputs to the master module ( bypassing the 2-mix fader) … if it’s anything like the series iiic. We use those for connecting the output of the computer ( the headphone outs) / outputs of the DAT and cassette machines… stuff like that.
