Hello:

I am having some issues with my ribbon cables and connectors, specially in bus ribbons and button pcb card ribbons ( where L-C-R buses are located)

I tend to lose some of the buses in some channels, but after retitining the ribbon cable  in the connector with a screwdriver, the lost bus is back again. It seems that the connection between the ribbon in the connector is having issues. I am considering changing those ribbons and connectors. Any suggestions in this regard? Which cable? Which type of connector?I was thinking of the type of connector with a plastic bar behind, which tends to retain firmy the ribbon against the connector ( the connector used now has nothing behind).

Thanks in advance,
Iñaki

Hi

Ribbons must be re-punched with a hand tool and due after I strongly recommend to seal the ends with hot glue for future handling.

Sincerely

Hi Mike

Thanks for your recommendation! I will try it!

I was wondering if it could be interesting to give a small touch with a soldering iron in the connector/wire junction, after punching and before sealing with the hot glue., in order to ensure a contact, or maybe it is too much and the connector could be damaged.

Thanks!

Iñaki

Thanks for the advice! I will proceed like that and I will purchase a similar tool.

Best regards,
