Not nixie, but vintage electronics and clock , so should be of interest here, even thought off topic -

That's quite a bit of sixties tech. Although the author doesn't seem to be familiar with the American spacecraft technology of the day, which was virtually identical. Ceramic flat packs were used since plastic packages weren't suitable for the extreme conditions.
