Hello guys,
There is a new nixie tube "DMG01" and the clock using this tube , project lanched on Kickstarter now: ( not my list )

The tube is similar with IN18 in size but with more beautiful outlook and visual effects.

Its interesting seems they take great effort to achieve this !

These tubes look gorgeous and have some good thought behind it.  I love that it is a true pinned tube with a round dome.

What ruins it for my purpose is that the pinout is proprietary and probably done so he can sell expensive clocks.  I have multiple IN-18 based clocks that I was going to just drop tubes into to replace the IN-18s to see how they looked and held up.

For people that want to build more from scratch, it won't be a big issue.

I doubt it's malicious like that, but it is a huge missed opportunity that these tubes cant take advantage of existing IN-18 clocks/kits, especially since he said he plans to make tubes with different fonts.

It is hard to fathom if the pin dimensions are the same as IN18 or maybe ZM1040's that a newly designed tube wouldn't follow that logic....seems like a missed opportunity to sell more tubes? Are we sure these aren't pin compatible with some old tubes? I haven't check these out yet...

The reason the pins are not compatible with the IN18 is that the IN18 has too few pins to prevent left and right decimal points. So I added two extra spare pins for connecting the decimal points, and even though they didn't make it in, I left them in anyway

微信截图_20230921120249.pngThere's no need for malice. In fact, I left the decimal point on the right. Do you think the decimal point could be added if it were an IN18 pin?

No malice intended, the tubes are beautiful!

Just disappointed that all of the existing sockets can't take advantage of these gorgeous tubes.

Millclock tried the same thing with a proprietary pinout and clock for their ZIN70 and ended up going back and creating a pin compatible version for the 568.

Still, it is so nice to see crafts people create and revive nixie production know-how to keep the nixie tube alive!  The makers have shared wonderful videos of the process and it is amazing how many things need to be just right to create a working tube that can provide long lifetimes.

I really wanted to order some!

Are the pins compatible with the Hamamatsu E678-14C socket or any other 15-pin photomultiplier tube?

The tube looks beautiful, I really like the shape of the “1”. Since I don't care about the pinout, i think a decimal point on the right would be a nice added value over the IN-18.

Maybe one day, a version called DGM18 will be pin compatible with the IN-18 ??? keeping the existing HW, just not connect  the dots...

Benoit.

Well its interesting. The IN-18 has two pins that are connected to the 'giver pill', pins 1 and 8. Perhaps you could use those two pins for decimal points? I don't have an IN-18 to hand right now, but I assume the pins are shorted together, so no existing clock would have those wired to anything? I know that the PV electronics clocks (as an example) don't have them wired to anything.

The tubes look great, well done, I'm sure that was a lot of work.... looks like you have a successful Kickstarter already, so congrats!

Fantastic work, congratulations!

I noticed one thing about the clock: it has the "INIXIE" logo right in front and center. I know that Dalibor has his logo right there as well, but something about this has always rubbed me the wrong way. If I spend 1000 EUR on a clock, it would be nice to have a "no logo" option, if you, like me, like a more minimalist view. Just a thought :)

Again, amazing work, and I also share the sentiment about the beautiful font of the "1" character.

Best wishes
Jens

Infact we have some no logo version base, but we instead it in after version. if you want no logo version, you can leave feedback, we can send no logo version for you.

I would love to see decimal points in this tube! Congratulations for your great work. The tubes look great!
