Fine vs Large mesh...

So, a question for the peanut gallery (if this hasn't already been discussed...I don't recall it..)...Occasionally you'll come across an IN14 or IN8 tube that has a fine vs the standard large mesh and the visible appearance is clearly better with the fine mesh....was it just a cost cutting measure to go with the larger mesh or is there an electronic advantage to it (lifetime etc...)...

That's am interesting question, it was bugging me lately that IN-4,  Z870M and other biquinary tubes were made with a standard front mesh, while the internal screen was made from a very fine wire, which is barely visible. Why weren't they produced with this fine mesh at the front, too?

I have a few IN-1s that have two different mesh styles as they are from different factories. Different base colours too, brown and black.
