This is a bit OT, but I've following the project for a couple of years and the product is just becoming available in the USA, hopefully elsewhere next year...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p_wk3q8jWcs - many other videos on YouTube...

The Shaper Origin is a completely new concept in hand-held tools - it's a CNC router, in your hands - it handles pretty much any size of workpiece and is just a lovely concept (now a reality). X/Y & Z.

I'd really encourage you to have a look at the videos surrounding this, specifically how it works - the technology is awesome - the visual recognition work and maths is just great.

I have no interest, financial or otherwise, in this product as we can't yet get one in the UK (and they're currently 110VAC only), but it's a harbinger of things to come.

As soon as they are available here, I'll have one!

Warning: Not cheap. At all.

Cheers

Nick

OT ??? Nope; every nixie clock needs a case and lots of us use wood. Thanks for posting.

Originally I thought this would be more like a "3D anti-printer", which would move the router for you in XYZ direction. Interesting idea, but it still requires the operator to do the work, rather than 'fire-and-forget'.

I'll probably pass on this; one thing about 3D printing that I really like is that I can fire-off builds overnight.
