Hi All,

I've had a set of IN-18 tubes in storage for a while, waiting for the right project.
My requirements were simple, but they did exclude a few of the current kit makers: I needed NTP support and a Web UI.

After building the IN-17 mini clock from Richard, we got talking about the IN-18s I had.
He has a kit that met my requirements and also offered to help make me a custom case.

On a recent trip to the UK, I stopped by and picked up the kit. I've now finally had a chance to build the clock.
All of Richard's kits are well-designed, and if you require any further assistance, he's also super helpful.

The case is made from 6 mm purple acrylic at my request. It's a simple design, but I am not one for fancy or "bling".
The Web UI and firmware are based on the open-source code from: nixie clock.biz.

I've included a few images of the clock below.

Love these colon towers as well, simple but look quite nice!

Finally, a night shot:

Thanks for reading. :)

Hi,

Very nice looking clock, especially the night shot.

I bought an IN18 kit several years ago years ago and recently got around to building it.

Moderately happy with it, has GPS sync, hardware design is good, software has several short comings, I think I can do better.

Partway through my design, intend to have GPS, NTP, and a Web interface over WiFi. Power from USBC or barrel jack, thought about USB comms but too much bureaucracy with Vendor and Product IDs.

From what I can see on Nixolgy the blue illumination is from a single LED from under the tube, is that correct?

Here's a pic of my first attempt at a case, again, I think I can do better.

Ken.

Ken, that is correct, it's a single RGB Neopixel per tube, mounted close to the bottom of the tube.
Tube board sits close to the main PCB (Approx 6mm), where the neopixel is soldered onto.

Thanks
