I thought this would be fun. Using an old frequency counter with a nixie tube display to display the frequency of my nixie power supply prototype. I bought this a while back for the tubes (CD66), but it was in such good condition I couldn't bring myself to take it apart. I've been casting around for a use for it for a while!

Back in the mid 1970's I bought a used FM signal generator from a friend because it had nixies and some really cool illuminated switches. After junking it for the freq counter (100% transistor logic; not a single IC), which I used for several more years, I junked that as well but kept the 6-tube nixie display because I knew I wanted to build a clock....someday. So there it sat in my junkbox for about 30 years, until I found the time to make a clock out of it.

And that clock has been here on my desk at work since 2011, faithfully ticking-away. The rest, as they say, is history.
