So... I suffered a home theft and one of the stolen items was a custom made device that used 6 nixie tubes.
While the device was recovered, all of the tubes themselves had been broken. :(

It used (6) NL5441A tubes.  I really desire the A version with the smooth top to maintain the original appearance.
Does anyone know where I may be able to obtain some of these?  All of my searches so far have come up empty, for any price.

If anyone has any available or knows someone who does I would greatly appreciate it!

The last time I saw any of these on ebay, they went for over $60 each!  I think that the supply has dried up.

Hello Robert.
Your best bet could be to look for HP devices that mount 1970-0035 part: that's the HP code for NL5441A. Basically: look eBay/marketplaces for HP stuff with Nixies inside, then look up the service manual to see the parts list.

I've got a few 1970-0035 that are inside an otherwise not useful HP device that I'm trying to revive (9403A, I doubt there is another one still around).

Contact me off-list in case you run out of patience to look for replacements. Consider we might not be in the same Continent.

Paolo

Thanks for the info!  I can also use 5440A as I do not need the decimal, however they seem even harder to find. :(
I shall keep looking!  If anyone can supply all 6 I am happy to talk a deal.

Weren't these the tubes in the Richardson close-out group buy back in 2008 in the old Yahoo group? At $4.57 each?

I have some left over from the group buy. How many did you need?

John

He's looking for the "A" version which has a smooth dome top.  They are nearly non-existant.  It looks like there were some people on this group that bought up a bunch of them 10 years ago for $4.95 each.  Hopefully someone is sitting on a bunch and will share...

By luck, he was!  He was caught breaking in to another house and still had my stuff in his car.
Not sure why he stole this even.  My first though was that it "looked cool", however throwing it in to a sack and having it break seems like it would reduce the value a bit?

That would be absolutely amazing of you!
I sent you a PM.   I still need all 6 however anything you can do would be appreciated and I can keep up my search!

Hi Robert,

So sorry to hear of your loss.  Six NL5441A tubes appear to be available here for $50 each:

I think they are just "fishing" for e-mail addresses and probably don't really have any stock

This is a real offer.  Out of curiosity, I filled out the quote form and indeed, these six tubes are available.  They responded within thirty minutes. Robert, if you need a couple of spares, this might be a good source.

Best,

U. Balis

I have access to 3 x B5441As at present. I previously had another 20 of them available in a Nixie sale I recently conducted but they went to a single buyer.

If these are of use to you let me know.

Wouldn't you know it... I wasn't able to get online until now and they are gone.  Would have been perfect! :(
Thanks anyway.
