Odd really - they're a nice tube, but that's a lot of money for those.

I agree, I can't figure out the market on there sometimes.  I mean it's obvious why the larger rare ones go for a ridiculous amount, but I can't imagine paying more than $10 each for these.

Well, I've been looking for these for over 2 years now! Maybe I don't know the right sources.
I even put a message on here and no-one was willing to sell or trade these nixies.
Maybe the NL-807 is not that common anymore after all.

They went for a ridiculous price...512 for 12 tubes. The NL821's went for over 600....

That's madness.

Madness is when you have regrets that you didn't bid on a ridiculously-overpriced nixie...
.....then you have feelings of guilt so you buy something unusual for the project you'll never have time to build

Wow.  'just goes to show that things are worth what someone's willing to pay.

They're nice tubes & all, but zm1040 & z566m's sell for similar prices and have 50% bigger digits.

Chalk this one up to pent up demand.  They're available for much less if you're patient.

I agree.  There are much nicer, larger tubes for the same price, but to each their own I suppose.

It is really about preferences. NL tubes have really fine anode mesh made of thin wire, and Z566Ms have hexagonal, sturdy mesh cut out from thin plate. I have few american tubes and I'm in love with their transparency and visibility of digits.
On the other hand, Z566Ms have better digit shape. They are also bigger, but I think that overall look of a lamp is more important than it's size - that's why I think CD47 are overrated, they have weird digit shapes and the internal construction isn't pleasing. If I ever had one, I would sell it for the ridiculous price it goes for immidiately and I'd buy myself a set of six better looking tubes.
Still, 50$ for a new tube is too much for me, I'd prefer buying something cheaper or used.

Yeah, it's really beyond me why anyone would pay money for anything else than the famous trio (zm1042/z5660m, IN-18 and Dalibor's RZ568M) when everyone knows that size is all that matters and these 3 tubes is all you need - ever! :-)

Well, I could think that money (or more precisely lack of it) is a good enough reason but there is space for disagreement there :-)
