Hi!

I am new to the group.

A friend gave me a "Frank 4, 29 Feb 2008" nixie clock, as silk screened in the PCB. The wall plug transformer was missing. Using a DC power supply I determined 12V looked to be the input voltage. Had one of those times the junk box paid off, I had a 12VAC wall transformer with proper plug! Clock needs AC in as the 60 HZ line frequently is the reference oscillator for the time function.

I saw an archive post to this group from Robert Malakiein 2009 who has the same clock. I also have the same problem his does, mine gaines about ten minutes a day.

I would truly appreciate a schematic and or manual so I may start doing some educated detective work.

Thank you!

Tom

Tom, this looks like an old PV electronics kit from the PCB silkscreen etc, but I don't believe he ever made a Frank 4...

You can find all the old manuals at the link above, but it may be worth contacting Pete directly. It sounds like the clock setting is set to the wrong mains frequency (there's a selection for 50 or 60 hz).....

From the Frank 3 manual (which also used AC frequency)..

"The two buttons have the following functions: SW1: Set / Blank
SW2: Up / Reset Seconds

Setting 50Hz or 60Hz Mode
With the clock powered off, hold BOTH buttons down. Power up the clock and either 50 or 60 will display, indicating the current mode stored in
flash memory. Use either button to toggle between 50 and 60 to select the correct frequency for your local electricity supply. Then power off the clock, and the value is stored in flash memory"

Hope that helps.

Nick
