The most recent sale of a single was around $300. All you have to do is sell one for that and you have your money back.

For the same money, you could buy 23 of Millclock's ZIN-70s or 17 of Dalibor Farny's R|Z568Ms. You'd have to be a real die-hard fan of the original Z568Ms to justify them at today's asking prices...

Plus the coolness of supporting these guys who are making new ones vs random ebay gouging.

Plus the risk of giving $3,000 to someone who only joined eBay last year has has only ONE feedback comment...

Good luck with that!

Yeah I bought a Sony camera lens like that, got a tracking number same day on a Tuesday, supposedly delivery on Friday to San Antonio from Miami.  UPS tracking number was active, showed delivery to someone named Winston at 'loading dock' which we do not have and nobody by that name here or in the back where a glass company rents part of the building, and no UPS truck came by that day at all.  We have cameras.  Seller was back and forth between 'no longer registered' and the item sometimes couldn't be found in Epay system.  Weird.  Epay tried to deny my case, saying seller provided tracking and it showed delivery but I appealed right before calling the credit card company, and Epay realized they'd better act so they refunded me...  Not sure how theycame up with an active UPS tracking that actually showed movement in their system though.  So always hedge by paying with a CC not debit or bank acct, and save and screenshot everything.

I've found eBay to be quite buyer friendly when it comes to issues with items. However, they've thankfully been very rare and as Nick noted, it's always a good idea to check their feedback rating!

The original Z568 tubes are some of the nicest out there though.... I remember getting my hands on some from Ask Jan First almost 20 years ago... they're still working fine. Not sure you could say the same about some of the new tubes made these days...

I’ve seen the opposite, tracking showing an item in transit even though it was delivered months ago.

I had the opposite.  One slimy bastard canceled an order after I won an expensive rare geiger radiac probe for a few hundred.  He sent me a message and said "I'm canceling the order because I paid way more than that for it and cannot sell it at a loss" and scumbags let him cancel it with no penalties or anything.  No, dude if you start an auction low with no reserve (as he did to avoid the listing and sale fees on the reserve) then you are legally obligated to sell it for whatever it ends at.  He said this stuff through epay's message system and they still did nothing.  So I spent months harassing the dirtbag, reporting lots of his items as illegal or stolen, sending nuisance messages, etc.  Wish I'd gotten his home address...  Paypal is about the same too.
