Hello,

my name is Benoit, I am fan of the old computers, my first job was mounting spools and launch the prints jobs on an brand new IBM 360.
I like the nixies of course, they are so relaxing.
I made a couple of clock with nixies or VFD, I want now to include them on a network, they should work as a display for news ans locale data.

Best regards from Paris, France.

Brand new IBM 360...those were the good old days.
I think the 360 had the most-impressive front panel of any system ever made. If only it had nixie tubes.....

How about some INS-1s and MTX-90s?

I remember a "funny" display on a CDC 160A, there were 8 lamps illuminating a frosted glass, each lamp had a cover where a number was cut out. This made it possible to display an octal digit easily. But it didn't have the charm of a Nixie.
for the 360, I think it was something like a midget flanged bulb.

Here are my few clocks.
don't be too severe, I just started 6 month ago.

20230131_131024.jpg
The first I bought. From Ukraine, electronic from Kiev (blackalex1973) and IN-14 tube from Donetsk, case from me.

20230131_131115.jpg
QS30-1 from Hong-Kong and electronic from ali-express. the red Led color is not working on the third digit, sending back the device for repair is half the price of the electronic...
case home designed in one piece.

20230131_131146.jpg
this one is made with IV-3 I bought with the IN-14 and a pcb I got from ebay (bobricius). There is an arduino uno under, I will make one smaller and rebuild the case.

are waiting some IN-4, IN-12b, IN-14, IV- 6, IV- 12, IV-18...
and a few IV-4 and IV-17 to make a multipurpose display, connected to HomeAssistant for time, date, meteo, temperatures and so on.

I will be busy for a while !!! ;-)

Benoit.

Bonjour,

It is difficult to buy in russia, but not in Ukraine. The is shipment is longuer (there is no civil plane availlable), but it works. a parcel is delivered to France in 3 to 4 weeks.

you also have Estonia, Lettonia and Lituania, they can ship faster as they are in the shengen space.
you still have Belaruss and Kazakstan...

I usually order via a web site beginning by "eB" and finishing by "ay" ;-) and I avoid ali-express.
