On the test equipment, most of it is either on shelves or fairly easy to
get to. I can power most of it up but have to get a long extension cord
to do so. A lot of this stuff is heavy so pulling it out to plug in is a
bit of a chore as well.
I am working this weekend, off Monday morning. My lair is not well
heated and we are supposed to hit 40 year records for the lows on
Monday/Tuesday. (I am in NW Ohio) Go to www.weather.com and enter 45801
for the zip to see what we are going to get. It is windy and we are
supposed to get several inches of snow on Sunday as well. My area may
drop below freezing. So the long and short of it is, weather permitting
I will get some pictures :-)
It really disturbs me that I can't find the IFF unit. Maybe the
demolition charges took care of it! I would have sworn I knew right
where it was...

I have no sympathy for you. Here in the Minnesota tundra, our HIGH tomorrow is -7 F, Monday is going to be -12 F !!! With lows Sunday  night approaching -30 F.

Why do I live here again?

Because we love the cold! It's gonna be -20s tomorrow!

Hi when I said my area may drop below freezing I meant inside the shop! I
am in Lima Ohio (North West Ohio) We have snow now temp 32 climbing to 34
during the day (quite warm compared to the last few days) Just enough to
make everything wet and slushy under the several inches of snow predicted
for today. Then the temps drop to -3 by 8AM tomorrow with temps dropping
to -15F winds 20-30MPH. I will be getting off work at about 6:15AM. I
have an 87 Audi Quattro that I don't drive much and I was planning to take
it to work. Well now the battery is bad. ( I think a bad cell). Charged it
the other day to top it off and it was weak 3 days later. So battery,
starting fluid. Oh the fun. We aren't like you Minnesotans we don't have
block heaters and places to plug them in at if we did. All my mothers
relatives are from MN. Lindstrom area. My sister lives in St Paul. Where
do you guys live?

I will get some pictures of the nixie gear soon, I have a couple of
dekatron counters as well. O-scopes. Antique radios, antique scientific
gear. I can take some general pictures as long as there are no neat
freaks here to chastise me for the mess/messes!

I'm with you guys on this - back in the early '80s I lived in St. John's, NL working at Memorial Uni - we hit -40 (don't bother wondering if that was Centigrade or Fahrenheit - it's the same in both).

We had block heaters, red poles to find the car in the morning, bits of wood to park up on so you didn't melt into and then freeze into the road - my brother's car had the oil freeze in the transmission as he was driving...

I really liked living there - no, really, I did - it was fantastic...

Tim mentioned some, and I expressed my interest. I'm certainly interested in pictures of yours, too.

Anything specific, e.g. voltmeters, frequency counters, other
specialized test gear, etc. under power, or not??? Ira.
