Folks,

I was building a batch of Nixie watches and noticed that my reject tube
storage bin was full. So I'm offering over 70 not-ready-for-Nixie-watch
5870 tubes on ebay, if anyone can find a use for them.

They have short leads (and no decimal points and only one anode), and
most of them have the white dot problem, which is a result of the cheesy
multiplexed display circuit I use to keep the parts count down. I expect
them to work fine in a non-multiplexed clock that sits on a shelf. Not
that I've tried them that way. to quote Calvin, "Caveat emptor, that's
the motto I stand behind."

The item number is 151154676271. I'm interested to see if anything will
happen.

That is quite surprising, using 2,000 tubes and only have about 70 rejects. I got 20 rejects already but made less than 100 watches. One of the issues that plays a role in my watch and not in your watch is that the tubes also need to work on a lower brightness/average current. Some tubes ionize much faster than others and will work without problems on lower currents but others take ages to ionize in complete darkness, eventhough the supplied voltage rises to about 200V if the tubes doesn't ionize quickly. This is much less of a problem in my new single tube watch, I assume because it is not multiplexed.
