For the magic eye collectors among us:

The seller took my $35 offer so I figured I’d give you guys the heads-up.

They look rather burned, hope they are still bright
Do you own any magic eyes with different color? Yellow or blue?

I guess I’ll find out. I did ask him to send me the one that looked the least cooked.

I haven’t seen any but then I don’t have an encyclopedic memory for eye tube part numbers. There are tons of new 6E5 listings every day so it becomes a blur after a while. I do have a CRT with both yellow and blue phosphors.

I’ve found this site to be a goldmine of information. It has animated gifs showing the “action” of a great many tubes. Click on “display patterns" for a REALLY cool light show:

Just in case it disappears:

If that doesn’t work have a rip of the entire site that can be browsed offline.

I got into magic eyes late in the game. At this point I’m grabbing anything that has more than one shadow. I’ll probably never get around to hooking them up but at least they’re here if madness overtakes me.

Just for everyone's info. RCA originally named 'magic eye tubes'  as  'electron ray tube', starting as far back, as at least 1941 with their 6U5.

@Terry
I know those websites , I've gathered information from them , and others
The non green magic eyes were made by french producers ; I have a yellow EM85
We can talk privately on this topic
@ Ira , I think these magic eyes were initially produced prior to WW2, but I have no idea who made them first
On the other hand, I have a very rare Vatea VT2, neon indicator , looks new wit original socket ( Vatea stoped using this name on 1939 after they were bought by Philips)
