We'd really appreciate if someone could take this on - not too onerous, and think of all the kudos you'd get!

I think the most important thing is some kind of succession planning.it's pointless to curate a fantastic resource of nixie documents if something happens to the curator, and the whole lot gets lost.I'm not sure what the solution to such digital obsolence issues are however.....!

Group hosts simply can't be trusted. All files should be free and clear if for no other reason than that password-protected, "secure" pdf files are NOT secure. There are apps that can decrypt them. I'm thinking in particular of Dieter Waechter's documents at http://www.tube-tester.com.We'd really appreciate if someone could take this on - not too onerous, and think of all the kudos you'd get!I'll certainly take all I can get but when I think about such a project my eyes start to glaze over. What I need is encouragement.I have been thinking a lot about the NixieBase project but that's a topic for a new thread.Terry Bowman, KA4HJH

Bill
Makes sense to me... Google isn't going away anytime soon. Seems to work pretty well to me.
This echoes my philosophy - my DropBox is ephemeral - when I'm gone (btw nothing planned) the box will disappear. That is why encourage everyone to keep their own copies. But then we also need a document repository (or several repositories) someone that people can use to retrieve documents. I doesn't hurt to use Google as one of the repositories to start and then have copies.
Just my 6 pennies worth.

If folk want to shadow it in lots of places, that'd be great - I know I will!
The only important things are not to fragment the exercise by a) over complication or b) updating mirrors rather than the master or c) getting lost in a maze of twisty passages, all alike...
As it stands, all members of neonixie-l have read access to the repository and write access the temp folder, and all the admins (four of us at the moment) have write access to the whole store. All the old Yahoo! files are also already there...
This is a) simple (KISS), b) has multiple members with update rights and c) provides a public reference that anyone and their auntie can shadow should they so wish. Currently, there is 13GB free.
We welcome all contributions... suggestions as to the folder hierarchy too !

I have asked Tyler to have a first pass. As Google Drive is mapped to groups and shares access rights, the intention is to do a master copy here.If folk want to shadow it in lots of places, that'd be great - I know I will!
While I don't think Google will discontinue Drive any time soon it is a good idea to have a few backups. We are currently using 2 of 15 GB so it should be some time before we outgrow it. When that time cones we can either find someone who will host it for free or pay Google to get more space. In the mean time I'll go through the files and categorize them all and see if I can plan out a consistent folder structure. Then I can sort it all out.

Can someone capture all the clock pictures that were shared in the other thread and put them in a folder too?I'm more than happy to help out with the endeavor once a concrete plan is decided upon.(Pharma) Nick
