I'm looking for a dead CD47 for my nixie-tube display-case project (desktop museum); physical damage is OK though I wont pay as much.
I have a dead b7971 (cracked glass at the base) already.

Reply privately if you have one you are willing to sell. Thanks in advance.

I had a dead Z568M (still have it) that a friend, a very very experienced neon worker, tried to re-gas and repair for me, but unfortunately the envelope broke, so I just have the base and internals :)

Nice try!  I have not had much luck melting a nixie tube with a torch and careful uniform heating. There's always some place where the glass has too high a temperature gradient, usually the base, so it cracks. I think you would need to heat-soak the tube at the annealing temperature for a few minutes, and then try to add a tubulation at the base while carefully heating.

The melted nixie on my desk has the glass nicely sunken into the anode mesh, and no sharp edges, but the base cracked.
