OK, I saw an auction on eBay for B5870 Nixie tubes. By the time I got home and went to buy them, the auction was finished, but the same seller had another auction going.

The pictures looked similar, and I assumed they were another load of B5870.....I bought 20 and them and a couple days later (after the seller had posted them, from America), I re-read the details and found out they were actually B5750 tubes. The seller said that I can send them back for a refund, but due to me living in the UK and the obvious postage cost, I thought it may be easier to sell them on here.

So, if anyone is interested in some used B5750 tubes, I will have 20 of them in a week or so. I will obviously test each one to make sure they work.

If anyone is interested in all of them, or just some of them, please PM me.

Thanks

Craig

PayPal oftens pays for returns. But it might give a black mark.

My first home brew clock was B5750s. Nice smaller tube. I built a 4 digit clock into a Zenith "Circle of Sound" clock radio, in which the mechanical clock had failed.

I believe it to be the very first published example of a nixie tube clock radio. The picture was featured on the home page of neonixie-L back in the Yahoo era, for quite a while. Some long-timers here may remember that.

The B5750s seem to be rugged little tubes with plenty of life and good brightness. If I had any small clock ideas in the works I might buy them from you.

I quite like the B5750 tubes, but don't actually need them. I wanted the B5870s as I wanted spares for my Nixie watch I made. The B5750 tubes are 5mm taller and won't fit.

If you haven't seen the watch on here, here's a picture...

Craig,
I think 5750 and 5870 share the very same pinout, both physically and electrically, right?

I have some NL5870/ZM1332 and their non-standard pin spacing "forced" me to get into the whole PCB design and production process (with KiCad). It turns out that I got more PCBs than Nixies (there was no saving in ordering 3, 5 or 10 pcs!), so when they will show up in my mailbox (and be tested), I will have few spare basic PCBs that I would have offered on the list nevertheless. No problems to share design files for non-commercial use.

They are 4-digit multiplexed, 74141 onboard and there is support for both decimal points controlled through NPN darlington. Anode mux'ing is off-board because everyone uses a different method, even myself. It is a very basic design, but I wanted something to hold the tubes not the whole circuit, even though I agree that a PCB is convenient if you're going to build more samples of the same design.
The rendering looks like this: https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Wz75hnLVWvw/WN7RYpV9UyI/AAAAAAAABrI/gUdROEZd2QMsUVcQA9zgEZnGwLmCKAZ1QCLcB/s1600/4xZM1332-01.png

So, someone might get to build a 4x 5750 display sometime in the future. My PCBs have been on the road already for 45 days... stay tuned.

If you believe the datasheets, the 5750 glass tube is ~0.15" (~4mm) taller. If it wasn't for an existing watch, they are "almost" the same tube. But since it is being crammed into a tiny space, that 0.15" will probably make a big difference.

Only way, to really tell, is to get them "in hand", and see if it will fit. If not, I guess we'll see some tubes for sale.

They are a very similar size, but with only 46mm internal diameter in my watch, 4mm is quite a lot.
