All,

Sometimes it's a pain buying 1000 transistors for your clock when you only need 2.
I found this site when I needed a crystal.  No minimums!

Enjoy

Hi Martin,

I see they are in Thailand, but it looks like they have a warehouse in Colorado. Thanks!

Tayda Electronics, Bangkok, Thailand.

From what I can see…

·         Doing business for over 10 years.

·         Seems quite reputable. Rated high at eHam.net. resellerratings.com rates at 9.7 out of 10.

·         Low prices – even for single items.

·         Somewhat limited selection (depending upon your needs). There have been a few old complaints about some component quality.

·         Web site and payment mechanism seem secure. SSL certificate is Amazon verified. Uses 128 bit TLS encryption with HTTPS connection.

·         Web provides reasonably flexible shopping cart, account management, search, wishlist, order tracking, and return management functionality.

·         Total order minimum is $5. But no quantify minimum. Any number of individual discrete components (like resistors, capacitors) can be ordered.

·         To make a purchase you must register by creating an account (providing at least full name and email address). Account password creation is security code protected.

·         Remittance is via PayPal from the Visa, Mastercard, Discover, or American Express credit card of your choice. You do not have to log in to PayPal to do this.

·         You cannot change your order after placing it, but it can be cancelled if not yet shipped.

·         Shipping is from warehouses in Thailand, Singapore, and/or Colorado – usually within one business day.

·         Very low standard 7 to 16 day delivery shipping charge (appears to be near cost). More expensive for DHL/UPS 2 to 4 day delivery, as expected.

·         Packaging is in antistatic bags, as appropriate.

·         100% satisfaction guarantee. Returns accepted, with refund.

·         Seemingly responsive customer service.

·         “Contact us” is provided via a secured Web interface. Telephone number (not 800) and email address are also published.

·         Discounts/coupons appear frequently on their Facebook page. e.g., currently 15% discount code (sale15) through 7/4. Appears that 15% discount is available most of the time.

·         Ability to enter discount code appears on shopping cart order pages.

·         Shipping options/cost calculated automatically from entered country/state/postal code information before checkout.

All in all, Tayda seems to be a really convenient, inexpensive, and safe parts source option for makers and hobbyists.

Note: I have absolutely no association with or personal interest in this company. Just intrigued by Martin’s find.

Regards,

Bob
