Hi,

Can anybody help to identify this un-marked Nixie, which measures approx 25mm x 15mm and has two extra pins on the back.

Thanks

Thomas

Looks a bit like a B5991, but the clips on the top of the cathode supports is slightly different....

One of that series though - the size & shape are right...

What is that bizarre mechanical object in the upper-left corner ? Looks like some kind of retention device with mitre gears ???

Thomas,

That is the standard end-view Burroughs Nixie tube. The two extra pins are for
activating the mercury giver, I believe.

The module appears to be European in origin. We don't have capacitors like that
in the USA, and the TI chips have a European font on their labels.

The shaft sticking out appears to turn a rotary PC board switch through a miter
gear. The switch looks like it's wired to select one of the ten cathodes.
Perhaps it allows the user to set a counter trigger value.

Those capacitors are Rifa brand. Very suspect capacitors, especially there are tiny cracks in the epoxy. Advice: Replace them if there is any problem with the unit!
