Hello, Sherlockian friends!

We will be meeting at Memorial UCC on Sunday, July 19 at 3 PM, to discuss “The Problem of Thor Bridge”. It’s the one with the Gold King and the stone chip. It’s also the one that mentions Watson’s Tin Dispatch Box, which has inspired so many.

In addition to adaptations starring Eille Norwood, Peter Cushing, Jeremy Brett, Basil Rathbone (radio), Clive Merrison, Harry Attwell, and Johnny Lee Miller, the story also loosely inspired the 2005 CSI episode “Who Shot Sherlock?”

If you need directions or more information, please let me know. See you Sunday!

And there was also a plan afoot -- still is? -- for interested parties to enjoy a communal feast afterward at some place yet to be determined!  Max was the ringleader of this proposal (which Mary and I endorse and will join), so I hope this is still something special that we can plan around.

Thanks for the reminder!

I propose the Great Dane Pub just up Fish Hatchery Rd once again. I like the Great Dane because of the snug nature of it and because it's close to our meeting spot, but I'm open to other suggestions or requests. I'm sorry I've fallen down on the job—mostly being distracted by a bunch of upcoming prep for presentations in St. Louis and an essay due it has slipped my mind—but I still would like to make it work for folks who have time.

So even if you can't make the book discussion, let's tentatively say 4:45 PM for an early dinner and/or drinks, to conclude when we're tired of being in each other's company (~6:30 pm)?

Max
