I met with the DA on Tues. Blood test was negative for drugs and alcohol probably because it was at least 8 hr later when her blood was drawn. It was positive for active marijuana. She took a plea. Felony death and felony hit and run resulting in death. We’re hoping for the maximum which would be 8 yr. Court is Dec 2 for sentencing. I plan to go and make a statement. Some have said they want to come and make a statement. Some are writing statements and sending to me to deliver to the DA for her to read. It’s a judge she wants. She hit him head on at 75mph.

Iva shared with the irregulars. If you think the Rando group would like to be informed, that would be good. There may be some that would want to write a statement. I’m sure Doug Kirby and Daniel would be interested. I really want her to get the maximum sentence. It’s not a lot but it’s something. It’s all so tragic.

I’m sending in a statement. I want the judge to know that this affects more people than just the careless woman and her victim. Eight years makes me sick. BS.

Sorry for ranting,

Nick

Nick-I don't take speaking of the truth as ranting. Our traffic violence laws are weak and biased against vulnerable road users such as cyclist.  Somehow I survived my hit and the driver who hit me got away with basically nothing even thouh she had no insurance and a revoked license.  She continues to drive w/o either and has been pulled over at least five more times this year alone driving dangerously.  Still no serious charges or fines.  This killing driver may get a few years-up to 8 and it makes me sick as well.  So I don't take it as a rant.  Keep speaking the truth so together we can advocate for changes so that road violence gets reduced.
