Nearing the end of the 5th season of the 2009 class. I think we can fairly easily put the players into tiers:

Tier 1 (Stars)
Blake Griffin
James Harden
Stephen Curry

To be honest, I'm not sure how a re-draft would go. As a Warriors fan, I'd probably be biased and take Curry, but I can easily see arguments for Blake or Harden. It's so close. All three are so good.

Tier 2 (Solid Starters)
Ty Lawson
DeMar DeRozan
Jrue Holiday
Ricky Rubio
Taj Gibson (somewhere else he could/should be)
Patrick Beverley (who would've thought?)
Danny Green

Tier 3 (Rotation Players)
Brandon Jennings (I know he's currently starting, but ranked 455 in RAPM...)
Jordan Hill
Tyreke Evans(?)
Tyler Hansbrough
Darren Collison
Gerald Henderson
DeMarre Carroll (props to him making me learn his name after 5 years)
DeJuan Blair
Jodie Meeks
Patty Mills
Chase Budinger
Earl Clark

Busts
Hasheem Thabeet
Jonny Flynn

Do I have this about right?

You have it about right. I would probably move Jennings and Evans to tier 2 though. Nice list!

This is a good reminder for when people talk about how "strong" or how "deep" a draft is: once you get to the mid first round, any team that picks someone who ends up sticking in the NBA is considerably ahead of the curve.

I think you have it about right, although Lawson and Derozan (and maybe Gibson?) may deserve to be in a Tier 1.5 of almost-stars. Evans and Carroll will both make the case that they're Tier 2 material, and I'm tempted to believe them. Earl Clark, having watched him for half a year with the Cavs, belongs in the Busts category. His stats tell you he's merely below-average, but man, it is painful to watch him on the court. I've never seen a veteran player look so clueless so often.

As far as omissions, you're forgetting Jeff Teague (comfortably in Tier 2), and possible roleplayer candidates Omri Casspi and Nick Calathes.

Calathes deserves special mention here. He was an excellent two-way college player at Florida and rated by some metrics as a fringe all-star caliber prospect. However, he slipped to the second round in the draft and played overseas in Greece for the last four years. Finally he's in the NBA playing for the Grizz and has looked great backing up Conley and did a solid job holding down the fort when Conley was injured last month. Stay tuned.

Calathes played in Greece for Panathinaikos, than for a team in Russia. I do a weekly Grizzlies report on my show and I've been singing his song all season. He's a very solid backup.

Completely missed Jeff Teague! I'd definitely put him in Tier 2. Also agree with other comments mostly.

I wouldn't call Earl Clark a "bust", simply because he was taken at #14. Same reason I didn't call Terrence Williams a bust. Top 5 picks can be busts, although I might make exception for Top 7 one day, so I can eventually put Harrison Barnes in that group. :P

I've said my peace about DeRozan, but I do agree with Lawson. When he was healthy early in the season he was a top 5 point guard (albeit only for a month or so).

I agree for the most part. Solid list, Evan.

I think Danny Green is too one dimensional to be a solid starter and isn't overly consistent and isn't as dynamic as the other tier 2 players. He's a little overrated in my opinion and is a solid tier 3 player.

Tyreke Evans should definitely be tier 2 after his amazing rookie year but he wasn't used properly after that and is finally playing to his potential on the Pelicans now.

Marcus Thornton is a solid tier 3 player and is capable of putting up 15-20 ppg when given regular minutes but does little else but score. He's like a Nick Young, JR Smith type caliber player.
